Tooth loss from dental trauma or an untreated cavity can do more than hamper your ability to chew and break food down before swallowing. The tooth’s location in your mouth could also alter the clarity of your speech and the appearance of your smile.

Even if you manage to learn to live with the loss of the tooth, the void in your mouth can also cause the neighboring teeth to drift out of alignment. This can cause the corresponding teeth in your bite pattern to suffer excess wear and tear, while also increasing your chances of suffering dental attrition and dental fractures.
Dr. M. W. McConnell can install a dental bridge over the void to help prevent these complications. It is essentially a replacement tooth that is connected to a crown on each end. Dr. M. W. McConnell will also need to create a pair of abutments from the neighboring teeth to create anchor points capable of anchoring the dental bridge in your mouth.

This involves him removing most of the enamel layer of the teeth, leaving only the healthy dentin, encasing the pulp and nerve of the tooth. A detailed impression of the abutments and any relevant teeth will be created. This will be sent to a professional dental lab to guide the technicians while creating your dental bridge

You will need to return to Dr. M. W. McConnell’s dental office when your dental bridge is ready. The temporary crowns will be removed and a special dental adhesive will be used to secure it onto the abutments.
