Are you breastfeeding your little one? If so, there are dental health facts you should know so you can take good care of your child’s smile. The more you know, the better. So, our dentist, Dr. M. W. McConnell, is happy to expand your knowledge by sharing some dental health facts with you. Those are:

-Breastfeeding can help your child build a better bite. Studies have shown that exclusively breastfeeding for the first six months of your baby’s life can reduce their chances of having bite misalignments, like an open bite, crossbite, and overbite as well as misaligned teeth.

-You don’t have to stop breastfeeding when your child’s chompers grow in. Although you might want to because you’d rather not deal with the biting, you certainly don’t have to. Choose a time to wean that is best for you and your baby.

-Breastfeeding reduces the chance of your child having cavities. This is because your child won’t have frequent or prolonged exposure to sugary drinks.
