Braces are often the most effective method for correcting the alignment of your teeth. There are minor variations that can be applied to help address your misalignment issues. The one that is right for you will depend on the type of deviation in your dentition as well as your permanent preference.

The process starts with our doctor examining your mouth to assess the various alignment issues and other factors with your teeth. Then, we will help you understand the option that is right for you.

Traditional braces are made up of a series of carefully placed brackets that are cemented onto the faces of your teeth. They will then be integrated with other components to create a system capable of altering the periodontal ligaments to address a malocclusion, overbite or other significant deviations in your dentition.

Once this is done you will need to see Dr. McConnell and Dr. Bui for regularly scheduled adjustment appointments. Each of these sessions will mildly tighten the braces components to bring your teeth toward their ideal orientation.

It’s important to note that cavities and periodontal health problems can extend the amount of time it takes to fully correct the alignment of your teeth. You should thoroughly brush your teeth each twice each day as well as remembering to floss each evening.

Sometimes a simple oral hygiene tool such as an interdental brush, a floss threader or a water flosser device can help clear away bacterial deposits before they can cause a problem.
